Voter card is one of the most important identity documents; it is for every Indian citizen above 18 years of age. It not only allows you to vote but also serves as a valid photo ID for many government services. Earlier, downloading or updating voter card was a long offline process, but now the Election Commission of India (ECI) has made everything easy through online services. Now, you can download your voter card, update your details and even carry a digital copy on your mobile phone.
Online voter card, also known as e-EPIC, is a secure digital copy of your geographical voter ID card. It looks exactly like the original card, but it is available in a PDF format that you can save on your phone or computer. Many citizens now prefer digital voter cards as it is easy to carry, can be downloaded anytime and remain safe even if the geographical card is lost.
What is e-EPIC (Digital Voter Card)?
e-EPIC is an electronic version of the Electoral Photo Identity Card. It contains your name, address, date of birth, EPIC number, polling station details and photo. The digital voter card is accepted everywhere just like the geographical voter ID. The biggest advantage is that you can store it safely on your mobile phone and download it again whenever required.
E-EPIC Download – Get your digital voter ID easily:
The Election Commission of India provides the e-EPIC download facility through its official website voters.eci.gov.in. Any voter with a valid EPIC number can download the digital copy after verification of the mobile number.
Follow the steps below to download your voter card online:
Step 1: Visit the ECI official website: Go to the official portal of the Election Commission of India: voters.eci.gov.in
Step 2: Click on “E-EPIC Download”: On the homepage, you will find the “E-EPIC Download” option. Click on it.
Step 3: Login / Sign Up: You will be asked to enter your mobile number / EPIC number and CAPTCHA code.
If you already have an account, then log in directly.
If you do not have an account, then click on “Sign Up” and register using your mobile number.
Step 4: Access your dashboard: After logging in to your account, click on “Download e-Voter Card (e-EPIC)”.
Step 5: Enter your EPIC number: Now enter your EPIC number or Form Reference Number, select your state and click on Search.
Step 6: Verify your mobile number: If your mobile number is already registered with ECI, then you will see the option “Send OTP”.
Click on it and enter the OTP sent to your mobile.
Step 7: Download your e-EPIC: Once the OTP verification is successful, the “Download e-EPIC” button will appear. Click on it to download your digital voter card in PDF format.
You can save this file on your mobile or take a printout if needed.
