Poi Pi Mau Tai 2120 (2025) is not merely a film; it is our yearly Tai New Year Festival. The Tai Khamti people attend the beginning of every New Year annually. The Khamti community also celebrates their new calendar year starting on the last messages received on June 1st, 2025 and continuing to November 20 – November 22, 2025 at Choupha Plang Lu Hochayan (PPM Ground).
Despite the fact that Tai New Year Festival is held after harvest, during the period of the end of November until the middle of December every year, this is not only a festival of this year New Year but also an event of the new social/cultural season of the Tai Khamti; Although this year the Tai Khamti Community has many people continuing to carry on doing their own farming during the same period, this is the time when people of the Tai Khamti Community will come together to hold a big celebration of their cultural identity.

The Poi Pi Mau Tai 2120 festival was the one that was dedicated to Respect of the Past, Unity of the Tai Future, with the event called Echoes of Greatness.
November 20th was full of traditional processions; the showcase of colourful cultural events, such as a large-scale show of Tai art, a souvenir item marking the occasion, and a range of traditional foods, all of which have added to the importance and the rich cultural heritage of the Tai Khamti people.
Governmental political leaders were present. An example is the comment made by the Deputy Chief Minister Chauna Main in his speech to the attendees of how the incident illustrated the rejuvenation of peace and that the cultural identity of the Tai Khamati people is being renewed and brought together as a single large community.
Besides, the presence of Piyush Hazarika, who is the Minister of the neighbouring state of Assam, is an indication of the mutual, close relationship and cooperation between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
The spirit and culture of the community are inseparable in the numerous types of energy concentrated in Poi Pi Mau Tai Namsai ( Land of Golden Pagodas).
Through the assistance of most of the community organisations, such as the Tai Khamati Development Society (TKDS), a convergence of most people to offer their faith, traditions and love through the celebration of festivals will occur. The ancient customs of the Buddhists have led to Spiritual Foundations; Monks pray before all sentient beings at the lit pagoda, and at the close of one year and the commencement of another, with the blessings of Peace and Prosperity. Through these rituals, a linkage of the traditions that existed several centuries ago and today in terms of spiritual wisdom and training is perceived, as food offerings were made to the Buddha.
The Festival will be crowded with various types of Artistic Exhibitions, starting with Folk Dance, to the most popular Tai Khamti Cockfighting Dance, the drama of Peacock Dance and the motion of the Demons to declare the triumph of the good over the evil.
Competitions and Exhibitions: The festival involved numerous people as it had over 78 villages competing in the traditional games, sports and literary events. It also had an exhibition stand where people could see traditional craft and antique tools, handwoven products and Tai food of various kinds, including glutinous rice cooked in bamboo. Renowned concepts of beauty were matched with glamour in the Miss Tai 2120 contest.
Youth Empowerment: Another major attribute of this festival was the level of youth participation, which made youth confident about their cultural identity and guaranteed continuity and preservation of their cultural heritage. Such events remind the youth today that culture is a living resource, as said by the Deputy Chief Minister Zorg.
Tourism and Socio-Cultural Effect
Namsai is a destination that is still developing, but as it is expanding, there is an increased influx of people within and outside the region. Hence, tourism is growing as a result of the festival.
Cultural Diplomacy: There are two successful International Sanken events and an annual International Kathina Sivara Dana, which has boosted the international interest in the Tai festival. Poi Pi Mau Festival offers visitors to feel the calmness of the monasteries, traditional villages and nature of the region. The websites on tourism allow users to create their own pages.
Advertisement: The video is a promotional video entitled Poi Pee Mau Tai 2120, which will be distributed online (e.g. YouTube), and another celebratory song and music video, titled HAAP PEE 2120 (Welcoming the Year 2120), created in cooperation with numerous organisations (e.g. PPMTCC 2120 and the SHOP around the CORNER). The promotion materials of this festival also consist of video clips with the members of the festival (e.g. Chow Nithon Manlai, Chow Rajing Mungyuk, and Thupten Lamu), but as opposed to a movie, this is not a feature film which it is a festival.
Development promises: The festival is bound to the social development every year; their resolve to make Namsai one of the cleanest districts is evidenced by the repetition of the statements by the local government officials that they will make the local river system alive with their project of River Festival through their community.
In conclusion, it can be concluded that Poi Pee Mau Tai 2120 is a very successful festival. It was also attended to celebrate and remember the time-based tradition of the Tai Khamti people and to connect and bring the Tai Khamti community to the whole Northeastern region of India in the next year with hope and a vision.
