Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) Mission was launched to ensure a permanent house with water connection, toilet facilities and 24-hour electricity to every family in the country by the 75th year of Independence. The scheme was implemented in 2015 and aims to be completed by 2022.
Under this scheme, about 1.12 crore houses will be built across the country. Bookings have already started under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) Mission. Anyone can book their dream house in the city for ₹3.5 lakh. Under this scheme, the size of a house for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) can be 30 sq m, which is the carpet area. This scheme is beneficial for the economically weaker sections of the country.
Under this scheme, first-time home buyers also benefit from the Credit-Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS). Under this subsidy scheme, home buyers get subsidy on interest on home loans. The central government has extended the deadline for availing this scheme till March 31, 2021. About 2.5 lakh middle-class families will get the benefit of this scheme.
The Uttar Pradesh Housing Development Council has started booking for 3,516 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) houses in 19 cities from September 1. Poor people will get these houses for just Rs 3.5 lakh. Online applications can be made till October 15. Only those whose annual income is less than Rs 3 lakh can apply. The poor will get a house for Rs 3.5 lakh and they will have to repay this amount within 3 years. Earlier, the repayment period was 5 years, but now it has been reduced to 3 years. In terms of house size, the carpet area is 22.22 sq m and the super area is 34.07 sq m.
Of the 3,516 houses allotted, 816 are in Lucknow, 624 in Ghaziabad, 480 in Meerut, 396 in Gonda, 96 each in Mainpuri, Fatehpur, Hardoi, Rae Bareli and Meerut. 48 houses each have been allotted in Kanpur Dehat, Kannauj, Unnao, Bahraich, Mau, Balrampur and Barabanki.
Log in to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana website pmaymis.gov.in. The options for LIG, MIG, or EWS are available here. The registration process will be completed after entering your Aadhaar number and other details. The application fee is ₹100, and ₹5,000 has to be deposited in the bank.
