The Rajasthan government has launched the Indira Gandhi Free Smartphone Scheme with the aim of empowering and digitally educating the women of the state. Through this initiative, free smartphones will be provided to women and daughters residing in Rajasthan. The scheme was announced during the budget declaration by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, with a focus on providing internet connectivity along with smartphones to women from Chiranjeevi families. The official launch date for the Indira Gandhi Smartphone Scheme is August 10, 2023. Under this scheme, smartphones will be distributed to girls studying in classes 9th to 12th, as well as those attending college from the Chiranjeevi family. Women and daughters of Rajasthan can apply to avail the benefits of this scheme and receive a free smartphone.
Main Objective of the Scheme:
The primary objective of the Indira Gandhi Smartphone Scheme initiated by the Rajasthan government is to digitally empower the mothers, sisters, and daughters of the state. This initiative aims to enable them to access the benefits of various government-run schemes and manage their banking activities independently. By obtaining a free smartphone through this scheme, women and students will be able to become self-reliant in accessing digital resources.

To benefit from the Indira Gandhi Free Smartphone Scheme, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
- Residency in Rajasthan
- Women and students of the state
- Women heads of Chiranjeevi families
- Girls studying in classes 9th to 12th, as well as in colleges and higher education institutions
- Widows/single women receiving pension and women heads of families fulfilling 100 days of work under MGNREGA

Offline Application Process:
Only offline applications will be accepted for the Indira Gandhi Free Smartphone Scheme. The process is outlined as follows:
- Attend camps organized at the district and block levels.
- Provide necessary information to the officials at the camp to apply for the smartphone scheme.
- Submit required documents to the officials.
- Receive essential information.
- Have the application form filled out by officials.
- Receive a sum of money after filling out the application form, which must be kept safe.
